7 events have been carried out within this project:
Event 1
Participation: The event involved 43 citizens, including 30 participants from the city of Belgrade (Serbia) and its surroundings, and 13 foreign participants from the partner towns / regions: 6 from Hévíz (Hungary), 3 from Lendava (Slovenia), 3 from Harghita County (Romania), and 1 from Eisenstadt (Austria). Moreover, 17,000 people were indirectly involved.
Location / Dates: The event took place in Belgrade, Serbia, on 24/03/2017.
Short description: The aim of the event was to raise feeling of ownership on EU policies, to improve culture of debate and engage citizens in decision-making at local and EU level. The event provided a forum for debate and lesson learned regarding the 4 freedoms in the context of the contemporary situation in the EU (economic crisis, migration). The exchange of experiences among partners, citizens and decision-makers resulted in a deepened understanding of citizens on the future of the four freedoms, European citizenship, and effects of migration. The event introduced young people with the opportunities and possibilities becoming available through Serbia’s accession to the European Union. The local winners of the photo, montage and photo manipulation competition titled "What do the four freedoms of the EU mean to you?" were awarded and the travelling exhibition of the works of the partner cities was opened.
Event 2
Participation: The event involved 146 citizens, including 98 participants from the city of Miercea Ciuc (Romania) and its surroundings, and 48 foreign participants from the partner countries: 15 from Serbia, 19 from Hungary, 12 from Slovenia, and 2 from Austria. Moreover, 20,000 people were indirectly involved.
Location / Dates: The event took place in Miercea Ciuc, Romania, on 05/05/2017.
Short description: The aim of the event was to initiate debates on the future of free movement of persons, goods and capital. Entrepreneurs (especially young), investors and decision-makers discussed opportunities to attract foreign capital, local entrepreneurs to offer authentic products in the EU market. Participants had the opportunity to discuss current challenges of EU citizenship, problems of Schengen, as well as benefits and disadvantages for Romania to enter the Schengen area. Through cultural performances and discussions, good and bad experiences of intercultural dialogue was put on the table. The local winners of the photo, montage and photo manipulation competition titled "What do the four freedoms of the EU mean to you?" were awarded and the travelling exhibition of the works of the partner cities was opened.
Event 3
Participation: The event involved 40 citizens, including 28 participants from the city of Nis (Serbia) and its surroundings, and 12 foreign participants from the partner towns / regions: 5 from Hévíz (Hungary), 3 from Lendava (Slovenia), 3 from Harghita County (Romania), and 1 from Eisenstadt (Austria). Moreover, 15,000 people were indirectly involved.
Location / Dates: The event took place in Nis, Serbia on 09/06/2017.
Short description: The event was dealing with the role and perception of local self-government units in the four freedoms policy of the EU and in various other areas, such as youth, policy making and anti-corruption. The National Coalition for Decentralization was involved to point out hot issues of power, balance and responsibilities of local self-governments units in the light of Serbia’s rapprochement to the EU. The local winners of the photo, montage and photo manipulation competition titled "What do the four freedoms of the EU mean to you?" were awarded and the travelling exhibition of the works of the partner cities was opened.
Event 4
Participation: The event involved 183 citizens, including 128 participants from the city of Hévíz (Hungary) and its surroundings, 55 participants from the partner towns / regions: 12 from Serbia, 19 from Slovenia, 14 from Romania, and 14 from Austria Moreover, 15,000 people were indirectly involved.
Location / Dates: The event took place in Hévíz, Hungary on 21/08/2017.
Short description: Participants could attend a mini-conference on the Future of the EU’s Four Freedoms, especially on the topic of attracting investments and supporting local entrepreneurs. Students, teachers, architects and entrepreneurs shared their success stories how they used of the four freedoms’ benefits and how they used the opportunities of the EU addressed young people. Parallel to the professional program, Students from primary and high schools could broad their knowledge on the EU and develop their debate culture through playful, interactive methods. The local winners of the photo, montage and photo manipulation competition titled "What do the four freedoms of the EU mean to you?" were awarded and the travelling exhibition of the works of the partner cities was opened.
Event 5
Participation: The event involved 45 citizens, including 30 participants from the city of Novi Sad (Serbia) and its surroundings, 15 foreign participants from the partner towns / regions: 6 from Hévíz (Hungary), 3 from Lendava (Slovenia), 4 from Harghita County (Romania), and 2 from Eisenstadt (Austria). Moreover, 16,000 people were indirectly involved.
Location / Dates: The event took place in Novi Sad, Serbia on 08/09/2017.
Short description: The event was dedicated to the topic of how local self-government units deal with promotion of the European values among youth. Organizers involved citizens through various activities: outdoor information booth, success stories on the European Youth Capital 2019: Novi Sad, roundtable sessions, poster exhibition, and a workshop on youth and EU citizenship. The local winners of the photo, montage and photo manipulation competition titled "What do the four freedoms of the EU mean to you?" were awarded and the travelling exhibition of the works of the partner cities was opened. Event 6
Participation: The event involved 178 citizens, including 124 participants from the city of Lendava (Slovenia) and its surroundings, 54 foreign participants from the partner towns / regions: 12 from Belgrade (Serbia), 29 from Hévíz (Hungary), 8 from Harghita County (Romania), and 5 from Eisenstadt (Austria). Moreover, 7,000 people were indirectly involved.
Location / Dates: The event took place in Lendava, Slovenia, on 24/10/2017.
Short description: The event aimed to discuss successes and possible pitfalls related to the realization of the four freedoms. Young participants, not only locals but coming from partner towns received information on their opportunities provided by the four freedoms and backed by EU programmes targeting youth. Concrete cooperation opportunities were discussed among the representatives of partners and associated institutions in the field of education. To enhance the involvement and information of young participants, targeted workshop took place where students coming from different cities and countries had a chance to further enlarge their knowledge on EU freedoms, EU programmes and decision-making procedures.
Event 7
Participation: The Final Conference involved 81 citizens, including 30 participants from the city of Eisenstadt (Austria) and its surroundings, 51 foreign participants from the partner towns / regions: 12 from Belgrade (Serbia), 19 from Hévíz (Hungary), 11 from Lendava (Slovenia), and 7 from Harghita County (Romania). Moreover, 105,000 people were indirectly involved.
Location / Dates: The event took place in Eisenstadt, Austria, on 15/11/2017.
Short description: The Final Conference provided a nice summary of most topics targeted during the project events and activities, including the four freedoms, youth, multiculturalism, as well as current challenges of the EU and the topics discussed. The event was attended by partners’ representatives including students having won the first prices of photo competitions at each partner launched at the beginning of the project. In addition, our aim was to gather a good mixture of relevant stakeholders, including policy-makers, experts and civil society. The event also provided a good occasion to draw lessons learnt during EU3doms and discuss the future of the cooperation launched by this project among the five partners from five different European countries. Partners disseminated the main outcomes of the project with a special regard to the briefings prepared on the four freedoms.
